As part of our new 2030 Sustainability Strategy, Nordzucker has set a number of ambitious targets to drastically reduce our emissions and improve sustainable supply chain management. As expectation for greater transparency and advance reporting on sustainability issues as well as regulatory demands continue to increase, we are now looking for a passionate and knowledgeable colleague within sustainable supply chain management to join the Nordzucker´s Sustainability team.

Sustainability / Human Rights Lead 

In this position, you will have a unique opportunity to drive Nordzucker´s human rights due diligence and create a meaningful impact in our supply chain. As our new Sustainability/ Human Rights Lead, you will be primarily responsible for the successful implementation of due diligence in line with the international principles stipulated in the UN Guiding Principles and the OECD Guidelines, as well as the legal requirements such as German Supply Chain Law and the upcoming EU Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence. You will be expected to work closely with several functions across the Nordzucker Group, and especially with our Procurement and Compliance team, to fulfill the requirements of the upcoming HRDD legislations, including annual reporting.
 
 
Responsibilities and tasks:
•    Implementing human rights strategy/ requirements within Nordzucker group 
•    Supporting the human rights and environmental compliance in the Supply Chain (German Supply Chain Act, CSDDD) 
•    Collaborating closely with several functions on risk assessments and mitigation processes
•    Collecting and analyzing supplier information, and engaging with suppliers to address gaps
•    Reporting annually on human rights issues, in accordance with the legal reporting requirements 
•    Providing support with Sedex SMETA audits of our own sites 
•    Being in close communication with internal and external stakeholders
•    Answering questionnaires for public reporting, such EcoVadis, UN Global Compact and other 
•    Work closely with relevant stakeholders across the value chain on human rights topics 
•    Preparation of sustainability topics and provide cross functional trainings
 
As an ideal candidate, you:

•    Have a relevant academic (economic, science or legal) and career background within sustainability and human rights 
•    Competence within human rights due diligence and relevant legislation required 
•    Have experience with human rights risk assessments in an industrial context
•    Relevant experience from industry, preferably from the food sector
•    Experience with Sedex SMETA audits and on-site audits of suppliers is advantageous 
•    Are a strong communicator who is proactive, well-organized, understanding and enjoys working with diverse set of people
•    Have an eye for details and are passionate about human rights
•    Speak and write fluent English, German language capability is a must
 
Your geographical workplace can be in Copenhagen or Braunschweig.
