Head of OT

Area of responsibility:

With a holistic approach and strategic vision, you will develop and implement comprehensive OT strategies that align with business objectives and support operational efficiency and safety. In doing so, you will also implement company standards and best practices:

• Oversee the design, deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle management of operational technology systems, including but not limited to industrial control systems (ICS) and other related technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation and ensure integration of OT systems into existing IT infrastructure
• Build and maintain strong relationships with OT vendors and partners to stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies
• Develop and implement OT security policies and protocols to protect the organization's critical infrastructure and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations
• Lead a team of multiple OT departments and specialists with guidance, mentoring, and performance evaluation - Simultaneously drive digitization initiatives across these departments to improve operational efficiency and innovation
• Develop and manage the OT budget and ensure effective resource allocation to support the goals of the business
• Collaborate with the leadership team to communicate the value and impact of OT initiatives and support strategic decision making
• Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of OT systems and infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary upgrades or enhancements
• Ensure proper documentation and knowledge management is in place

The ideal candidate (m/w/d)

• Has a degree in engineering, process automation or equivalent - advanced degree preferred.
• Has several years of professional experience in operational technology, with a focus on industrial information management systems, product information management systems, OEE systems, product traceability systems, interfaces between OT systems, and OT/IT systems and systems typically used in manufacturing environments
• Brings leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and implementing large-scale technology projects
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of industry standards and best practices in general; but also in relation to OT security and compliance (e.g. NERC CIP, IEC 62443, ISO 27001 and NIS2)
• Possesses strong communication skills and can convey complex technical concepts to non-technical and technical audiences in an understandable manner
• Possesses an analytical mindset, works in a solution-oriented manner and can make clear decisions
• Can adapt to rapidly changing technologies and industry landscapes
• Is effective at networking with stakeholders as well as universities, vendors, societies, and user groups
• Has a fluent command of written and spoken English
